Blockhead - Bells and Whistles (2014)

New York based hip-hop producer Blockhead aka Tony Simon has been active since 1999 and is well known for his celebrated work with Aesop Rock and solo releases on Ninja Tune. On November 18th, 2014 he will self-release his sixth studio album, Bells and Whistles. The album continues his proven techniques of exquisite beat making with methodically arranged samples, all the while being fluid and experimenting with new tempos and genre flavors. "I strive to make music that will hopefully stand the test of time. Whether that happens remains to be seen but I feel as though simplicity is underrated sometimes. DJ Vadim (aka Vadim Peare) is a prolific DJ and producer, born in St. Petersburg, Russia, raised in London and currently residing in both New York and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, whose music combines hip hop, soul, reggae and electronica. He has been described as "one of the few artists creating genuinely new work in the Hip-Hop field"[1] and an artist who "cannot be ignored".

DJ Vadim composes both music for MCs, singers and poets and soulful instrumental hip-hop beats. In both cases, certain stylistic trends emerge;

Dominating rhythmic percussion, heavy use of drum programming which are sometimes broken or stuttering, heavy bass and synthesizer use.
-Organic, soulful touches often using studio musicians, with undertones of roots reggae and ragga and driving, hip-hop drum orchestration.
-Original sounding compositions, arrangements that fuse many genres from hip-hop and electronica to soul and reggae.
-Heavy use of ethnic sounds, including Asian, South American and African.
